Parking at Maple Grove

HOW TO AVOID TRAFFIC AT MAPLE GROVE AND KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE

BUSSES AT MAPLE GROVE

  • Students eligible for bussing should ride the bus to and from school. This helps to avoid extra vehicles in our parking lot, keeps our students safe, and is good for the environment.

  • Students will be assigned a seat on the bus. All students must sit in their assigned seat.

  • Students are not permitted to change busses, or ride a bus that they are not registered on for any reason.

  • There will be bus supervision daily. Students will exit at the back of the school and walk to their assigned bus. Kindergarten students will be picked up by a staff member at the beginning of the day and walked to their bus at the end of the day. Students in Grades 1 and 2 will be walked to the bus lines by a teacher.

WALKING TO MAPLE GROVE

  • Students within walking distance should walk, bike, scooter or skateboard to school. Bike racks, skateboard racks and scooter racks are available.

  • Walking to school helps to avoid extra vehicles in our parking lot, keeps our students safe, is good for the environment and helps our students to get exercise and develop independence.

  • Students should use the walkways to arrive and leave from Maple Grove. Students are not permitted to walk through our parking lot, as buses will also be entering and exiting during morning entry and dismissal times.

OAKVILLE TRAFALGAR HIGH SCHOOL DROP OFF & PICK UP

  • Parents who need to drive their students to school may park at Oakville Trafalgar High School.

  • Students can walk across the field or along the pathway to Maple Grove. During the winter months, the field may become icy, and the pathway may be a safer alternative.

ALBION AVENUE DROP OFF & PICK UP

  • Parents may also drop their students off and pick them up on Albion Avenue, as quick stops are permitted. However, this is a no parking zone. Therefore, if you arrive early and are waiting in your car for your student, you may be ticketed for parking.

  • Students are not permitted to cross the parking lot to Albion Avenue and must use the walkway.

FDK KISS N RIDE

  • FDK parents may use the Kiss N Ride to drop off their children. Siblings of FDK students may also use the Kiss N Ride.

  • Please pull all the way forward in the Kiss N Ride, allowing other cars to enter behind you. Please follow the directions of all staff.

  • Please turn your car off. Exit your vehicle, help your child out of your vehicle and escort them to the Kindergarten Yard. Once your child enters the yard, please re-enter your vehicle and exit the parking lot. Drop off begins at 9:00.

  • Older siblings may also exit from your vehicle at the Kiss N Ride and walk along the sidewalk to the back of the school. Please do not drive around to the main parking lot by the blacktop. Please note that students are not permitted to enter through the front doors unless they are arriving during the day from an appointment.

PARKING LOT AT ENTRY AND DISMISSAL TIMES

  • Please do not drive your children around to the back parking lot to drop them off, or park in our parking lot. This creates a dangerous situation as students are arriving and leaving by foot, bike, scooter, skateboard or bus.

  • The parking lot is for staff use only.
