April 2020

Principal’s Message:

Dear Families,

As we look forward to welcoming back our students on April 6th, please take this opportunity to review our April Newsletter.

Thank you for all of your ongoing support of our student’s success at Maple Grove. During our February Council meeting our members voted on supporting the purchase of additional technology as well as a projector for our Library. The support from you, our parent community, is greatly appreciated by all.

We are also pleased to have a Maple Grove Outdoor Improvement Planning Group. This group represents our School Council and parent community and will have ongoing opportunities to actively engage in discussions pertaining to the enhancement of our outdoor spaces. As we work closely with our Environmental Sustainability Specialist and our Halton District Facilities team, we look forward to the evolution of this project as it reflects the voices of our students, parents and staff members.

As you know, approximately once per month, our classes gather together as a school community for a sharing assembly. These assemblies enable us to share an overview of events that are taking place in our school, recognize students for their accomplishments and learn something new. Most recently, we learned more about Gratitude. From reading the book “The Gratitude Jar” we learned that showing gratitude can not only help others to feel happy and good about themselves, it also improves our own levels of happiness. In addition to the learning, we celebrated our Golden Griffin Recipients who show gratitude everyday in their own lives and in our classroom communities.

As well, please make sure you are getting your information from sources like the HDSB Coronavirus website or the HDSB home page. All announcements will be posted there, including links to recommendations from Public Health. All communication about COVID-19 and the school closures will come from the board office, and not the school, so please watch your inbox for updates

We look forward to a great month ahead in April! Please see below for the items from this month’s newsletter.

Sincerely,

Principal M. McKenzie Wells
