Dear
Parents/Guardians,
This part of
the site has the purpose of briefly explaining what
a literature circle is (I suggest you visit the
student
site) and how to help and encourage your child to
read. As a student you may not remember being
invited to discuss books and literature in the
class room. Today we are encouraging it through
discussion reflecting, retelling and relating in a
Literature Circle. In order to help support the
"Halton
Literacy Model"
Literaure Circles are a wonderful tool to help your
child enjoy and do well in the language
curriculum.

The intent of the
Halton Literacy model is to maximize
student achievement in reading, writing,
and oral/visual language consistent with
The Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1-8:
Language for all students.
